VOICE is looking for dynamic leaders and educators, with knowledge of youth work and development, to fill the role of Field Staff. There are positions available for projects in developing communities in Costa Rica, Cambodia, and Vanuatu. Working closely with a team of international staff and volunteers, Field Staff manage the preparation, coordination and facilitation of 2 to 6 week community development projects. Group sizes can vary, with up to 10 volunteers to one Field Staff. Some of our programs are specifically youth focused and require field staff to assist youth in gaining leadership and personal development experience, while other projects can have a range of volunteers aged from 18+. Please refer to the country program pages on our website for project details.
Please note for projects in Costa Rica Field Staff are required to have a minimum level of intermediate Spanish (a skills test will be conducted during the interview).
Due to the remoteness of some of our projects, VOICE would also like to encourage those with a medical background to apply for Field Staff positions. We primarily require a strong medical background for our Vanuatu and Costa Rica projects due to their remote location.
Field Staff have the opportunity to build experience and skills in:
- Youth work;
- Report writing and financial management;
- Project management;
- Mediation and conflict resolution; and
- Cross cultural communication.
Prior to the project, our Field Staff undergo training with Australian staff, as well as three-four days orientation in-country prior to the arrival of volunteers. This training is focused on providing Field Staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare you for the community project.
Upcoming Field staff Program Dates:
CAMBODIA: 26 June – 25 July 2015
COSTA RICA: 26 June – 19 July 2015
VANUATU: 29 June – 26 July 2015
*Please note these dates may change slightly, and Field Staff will be expected to arrive in country up to five days earlier than the project dates, depending on location.
